Would people buy handicrafted soft toys? I am interested in making handicraft soft toys, like those animal shaped or food shaped ones for extra cash. And I don't know if this will sell well, so I'm just wondering if people would buy such crafts?

Are there any soft toy manufacturers in the UK? I run an online shop and I'd love to some soft toys made using my own designs. I want somewhere in the UK to mass produce them as I think it's better to get them done as local as possible. Are there any in the UK that make soft toys to your specifications?

The best way to finish a soft toy- sew or glue? I just started making soft toys but i'm not sure what the best way to finish them off is. Is there some sort of invisable stitch i can do or should i use some sort of iron on glue to finish the gaping seam?
What soft toy should I make for school? Hi. I am in Year 9 and am 14... for my textiles & design class at school next term I have to make a soft toy. I don't want to make a teddy bear, because I already have heaps. Do you have any other suggestions, which are not too difficult to make and can be made in around 7 weeks, on top of my other schoolwork? Thanks so much !! xx egs are :: doll, toy giraffe, whatever ... *A method would be good if possible, too. =) Thanks!!
Why do toy companies make toys for babies that you can't wash in the washing machine? My daughter has a little bunny that has teething rings for the hands and feet, I picked her up from daycare yesterday and it was covered in peas from her lunch. I took it home to wash it, and read the care directions on the tag, it said not to immerse it in water. So I "spot washed" it as best I could with some organic non toxic baby detergent. It took me about a half an hour, and is still air drying as we speak. How do you wash your childrens soft toys?
Is it babyish to like soft toys? I'm 12 years-old. My 7 year-old sister recently went to a BuildABear birthday party and made a polar bear. I hate to admit it but I felt a tad bit jealous of her. I was just wondering if it would be babyish for me to go there and buy one. My mother said there were only kids her age there making one. I'd feel so out of place if that were the case. What do you think?
My dog is a power chewer, she won't chew soft toys and hard toys make her gums bleed, any suggestions? ? She is only two years old, very active and energetic. She loves nylabone, but her gums bleed within a few minutes, end-bone's are gone within seconds, I don't want to give her raw hide. I bought her several kongs of all different degrees of hardness but she only eats food out of them. She only fetches with tennis balls, only eats the feet of her rubber cuz, and sleeps on her stuffed animals. She loves to chew. Please help. She is only two years old, very active and energetic. where can i sell my new design shoes or toys? I recently design a new soft leather shoes for babies, my product is make of soft sheep leather, it have 7 different character in total. Each with different name and personalities. It can become a key chain or as a kind of soft little toy collection for adult as well. I have located a manufacturer in Hong Kong to make my production. Now, I am wondering how to locate the toys as well as baby distributor in western country as well as in Singapore. Guys, anyone can help?
My son is nearly 7. He is still very attached to soft toys which he takes with him everywhere...? He always role plays with them for hours, making stories and staging plays... He is not into boy toys or ball games. What would be the right approach for me to make it easier for him to blend into boy groups and have friends with similar interests. Also, does this characteristic of him represent a sign of him maybe having an artistic side.. like could he be more imaginative like becoming a writer or film maker? shd i encourage such a talent? and in what way?
Knitters, Crocheters, please help! What is the best yarn for making toys? I don't have all that much money, but I recently discovered how relaxing and enjoyable it is to make knitted toys. I have some birthday money, and I want to stack up on yarn, so I don't have to go out an buy more each new project. The thing is, I don't know what the best brand is for making toys. I want it to be worsted/dk weight, soft enough to be pleasant to touch, but durable enough to be played with at least gently, and reasonably priced. Any thoughts? Please help! I don't have a huge 'craft allowance' and I want to make good while I can!
Is it babyish to like soft toys when you're 12 years-old? I'm 12 years-old and still like soft toys. I have a fair few. Just recently my sister went to a buildabearville party (she's 7 years-old) and made a polar bear. I denied it, but I felt sorta jealous. I told my mother I wanted one and she said there were only kids her age making one. I hate being in crowded places and get a little overwhelmed, but if there were only little kids there making one I would feel humiliated. What do you think I should do?
African Grey making soft whimper/clucking sounds? i've just moved in with my mum and she's got an african grey parrot who's about 6 or 7 years old. the bird is talkative and loves attention, but only men are allowed to touch him or her. if my mum or i go near the cage, he seems on his guard, although we're both soft spoken and gentle with him. i've been spending a lot of time in the room with him for the past two weeks, and i've noticed he gets extremely talkative (not loud, but talkative) around 3-5am when i'm the only one awake. i usually cover his cage if its chilly in the room, or if i'm leaving a light on, but its been warm lately and i don't like to close him in his cage, so i've just been leaving his door open so he can sit on top and play with his toys. we've been talking back and forth around this time every night, but my back is to him and as soon as i turn around he stops talking and making noise. i talk to him in a low, nice voice and he just walks around, looks at me, laughs, and dances. but sometimes he gets really still and he just watches me. anyways, tonight he did something i've never seen him do. he's fairly loud and he snaps at people who try to get into his cage, but tonight i walked over and talked to him in a low voice, saying 'pretty bird' (seems to be one of his favorites) and 'hello love'. he loves kisses, so i kissed him whenever he stuck his beak towards me slowly, and i continued to tell him that he was a good bird for being gentle. then, he started making these odd whimpering sounds. they were really low and gentle, not like sharp clucks but what i'm assuming a baby bird sounds like. he almost sounded like a puppy (when they try to 'talk'). it was just short, gentle clucking noises. and then he began to squat and put his feathers out, but not in the way he/she does when feeling intimidated. it kind of looked the way someone looks when they've got their hands on their hips, if that makes any sense at all. i kept talking to him and telling him what a pretty bird he was, and then he started twisting his head up and sideways slowly, and walking around in a complete circle while making the soft clucking noises. sorry for the novel, but i'm just curious as to what all of this means, since it's different than his day to day behavior. thanks in advance for any information :)
Dog toys made of denim? I recently got my hands on an issue of dog fancy saying that you can make dog toys out of old denim. My dog loves those little soft toys but we'll pay a pretty penny for one only for her to destroy it, so making our own seems like a good idea. Would you make dog toys for your dog? Do you think that making my girl a toy out of an old pair of jeans is a good idea? Yes, I plan to stuff them with the leftover denim haha
moloko 'things to make and do' - book cover? The cover for Moloko's 'things to make and do' album was 'nicked' from the cover of a 70s/80's kids craft book about making soft toys. I know because I used to have the book. Does anyone know what the book was called or who published it? I'm wanting to make some of the toys for my son as I loved em when I was little.
Stuck on questions for my textiles coursework questionnaire? I am making a soft toy cube based and the questions I have at the moment are; what theme what price boy/girl/unisex colour preference most important feature(sound etc) washable where usually shop What other questions can I ask to help me when I am producing my soft toy cube? oops sorry I did not mean to put it in this section!
Easiest way to make a scented soft toy? Ok, this is going to sound odd. A friends birthday is coming up in just over a week and I want to make him a scented cuddly toy. Now for the odd part: I'm trying to figure out how to make it smell like a meat pie. (It's to do with a running in-joke, honest) So my question is: what would be the easiest way to make it smell in the first place and what sort of things would you think would make it smell like pie?? Yes, I do realize how bizarre a question that is. xD
Where can I buy rattles to put inside a soft baby toy? I am making a little stuffed animal for my 8 month old daughter and want to put a rattle noise maker inside. Where can I buy one? All I see are actual rattles that cost a lot more than just the shaker part. Also, I would like to buy some squeakers like dog toys have. What do I use to make the crinkle sound that some toys have? Thank you!!!
What is the best way to stop a dog obsessing about soft toys? My dog goes a bit mental and gets very excited when there are soft toys around. Normally this wouldn't be a problem as we don't have any in the house, however I am soon going to have a little baby nephew so I need to train my dog not to try and take soft toys! I highly respect Victoria Stilwell from "It's me or the dog", however I have seen a few different methods she has used. Should I sit a teddy on the floor and say to my dog to "leave" and when he breaks his eye contact with the teddy, reward him? Should I make a high pitch sound everytime he goes near the teddy and then reward him when he leaves the teddy? Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks Helen P.S. My dog is a male dog so phantom pregnancy is not a possibility (we have had a bitch previously who has had that problem) He does have toys, he has bones, tug of wars, a tyre, squeaky toys, bones, all sorts. The problem is we don't want to give him a soft toy in case he makes him worse! Funny enough though he is not that interested in his actual toys... however he also gets obsessed over my cat and snuffles him all over, I just wonder if he is mistaking the teddy for another animal?!

I found this blog today and absolutely loved it, but my computer freaked out! Please help!? This blog was about doll making and soft toys for children. It had a stuffed felt monkey and other random animals. Like a wiener dog, a lamb, and I think a frog. It had a gray background with kind of a rainbow effect coming up from the bottom of the screen to the top left. If you know it please let me know!! I want to make some of the little animals for my baby!! Thanks!
Sewing up the hole you left to insert the stuffing? How do you sew up the hole you left to insert the stuff (e.g if you were making a plushie, soft toy ect) without it being very visible? Is there a certain type of stitch, or a method? Can you explain how and if it's a type of stitch please name it.

Can you knit softies on a loom using stocking and garter stitch? Please bear with me. I am a beginner knitter and don't know much yet. For medical reasons, I can't really use needles. They are not an option. So I was planning on purchasing a fine-gauge knitting loom for the purpose of making soft toys (amigurumi). I've not actually purchased the loom yet, but I see a lot of loom-specific patterns out there. The patterns I have all require almost exclusively stocking stitch and garter stitch. Will I be able to produce these on the loom? This is all I want to know and I can't seem to find a clear answer on it!
Is it acceptable to sell golliwog soft toys under the name "Nostalgic figures " ? A mail order magazine came through my door this morning, and flipping through it i found The old fashioned golliwog dolls on sale marketed under the name "Nostalgic figures" . Surely this can't be right and the manufacturer and distributor must have contravened the law in some way, I would be interested to know if anyone knows how a i can complain about this and bring it to the attention of the correct controlling body. I was astounded to think that this racial stereotyping is still going on in Britain today, the section where these dolls were advertised was for children which compounds the situation and makes won wonder if this is a deliberate act of racial hatred. Judging by the first few answers it would appear that racism is alive and well in the UK, would it be ok then to market fat pink slap head dolls with boots, braces and BNP tea shirts and call them "Nick's mob" dolls ?
Does anyone know what the crinkle plastic is called? They put it inside childrens toys to make them rustle. Most commonly found in soft toys especially biuilding blocks. If anyone can tell me of a supplier in the UK that does it or soft toy components in general I would aprreciate it. thankyou Sounds sad but I took a building block apart to see. Its a very thin layer of plastic with wrinkles in it, hence the crinkle sound. so its definately not bubble wrap.
What? I'm I too old to make a bear or other soft toy at Build a Bear? I was 21 years old and when i was on holiday i went to build a bear in Liverpool and made a dog bear with glasses, t-shirt, jeans and trainers. She wont have a bar of them. shes petrified of them... why is this and i really want her to play agiain. Now its as if she doesn't trust me even with her old toys because she is so afraid of her new ones What should i do?

Where can I find a black vampire bat soft toy or pattern? My daughter had her halloween wobbler vampire bat from Sainsburys stolen. I am trying to replace it with one similar or make her one with a pattern as it was one of her favourites. The one she had was supposed to wobble but it was damaged and so it was just a fat little black bat with fangs and red ears. Unfortunately, Sainsburys have told me that they have none left in stock anywhere.
My dog is killing his toys...? I have a Pomeranian who kills his toys....literally. He grabs them by the neck and then lays on top of them. He bites right at the throat and pulses his jaws together like he is sucking the life right out of his stuffed toys. He also makes this soft wimpering noise and closes his eyes while he does it. What is he doing to his toys? Has anyone else seen their dog do this? My dog is not a puppy, he is 2. He has all sorts of toys....nylabones, pig ears, rawhides, squeaky toys, rubber toys and stuffed toys. He only does this to his few favorites that he carries around with him. They are all larger stuffed toys, that he prefers. Also, he is not aggressive towards people or other animals, he even gets along with the cat.
Are there lists for collectors of the different soft toys made by Disney? The Disney Store (in the UK at least) used to sell many different sizes of plush - from the small 5" plushes to 5ft giants (think adult Simba!). Is there any way to tell if a 'giant' version of any specific character was made? Who should I ask? Ebay is useful, but people's descriptions aren't always brilliant.
can you recommend any good dog toys for a labrador? i have a labrador and he loves soft toys but they never last. a random person came up a few weeks ago asking about harvey, and she recommended this toy which is Soft and its made of leather i think she said. he all ready has a kong, but he dosnt bother with unnless i put treats in it, but i cant give him treats all the time.
I've yet to see a question about the safety of soft dog toys, do you know what Phthalates are and the dangers I just started researching "phthalates" in dog toys, this is the first link I've found so far, doesn't sound to good. The chemical is in about everything in our homes from electrical cords to anything that has flexibility, I've know that for awhile and we all are getting exposed to some degree. Think I might round up the few flexible dog toys we still have and trash them, I gotta wonder as well how many are made in China, I would bet most and are they lead based paint? Has anyone else done any research into this? http://www.thewholedog.org/id66.html
Do you like hello kitty for kids? OK so I have a baby daughter, Sapphire, and instead of buying her a teddy bear, I bought her a hello kitty soft toy made for babies, which I thought was really cute and totallly appropriate. I just don't understand why so people don't agree with muying babies hello kitty stuff? I mean, what's the problem? My daughter is half Japanese, for god's sake! I think she is entitiled to hello kitty.
My Cat is destroying my sons cuddly toys? My cat is destroying my sons soft toys. basically he's pulling the coarser/rougher fur off the toys. At the moment its my sons rocking horse! He doesnt destroy anything else, including furniture. He was neutered about 6 years ago. We have another cat, so he's not lonely. We buy him toys made from the same material he likes to pull apart but he doesnt touch them. We have 3 scratching posts which he uses frequently. Is there any natural way to get him to stop this ie lemon juice (but something that wont be sticky or go mouldy)? And while im on the subject naughty cats, the female cat uses my carpets as scratching posts, she used to use the scratching posts when she was a kitten but not anymore! is there any way to put her off her bad habit?
DO YOY THINK CHINA IS MAKING PRODUCTS LIKE GARBAGE..? chinese markets believe in more quantity then in quality. each and everything i have which is made in china is useless . their electronic products are garbage.. samsung contributes more in adds less in qualities.. their soft toys are not soft but are made up of toxic chemicals.. what do u think about this...
SOundwave soft-toy? OK, I want to make myself a soundwave soft-toy.(from Transformers G-1) Any ideas on how to make a transformer doll? lol! I want my own one to hug and squeeze at night.
how to clean the 'fur' of an old soft toy? Hi - I have a toy panda which was made in the 1940's. I think the material is cut mohair, stuffed with sawdust and it is really grubby. It belonged to my brother, who has now passed away, so I want to keep it for sentimental reasons but I would like to get it a bit cleaner if I could, without damaging it. Any ideas??
What are the best chew toys for a puppy? I go to pet smart and there's so many dang choices and I have no idea what to get. I give my puppy these little soft rawhide chews that are made just for puppies, and he also has a tug rope, which he loves. But what are the best toys to buy? He's a puppy so he loves to chew. Any advice?
Nylabones and Hartz Dental Duo chew toys for puppy? My puppy is almost 11 months old now and still chews like he did when he was teething, if not more. Most soft toys he destroys in a day and I try to give him all types of things to keep him occupied and away from furniture and such. He had a large rawhide bone, several feet long, he is only able to get little tiny pieces off at a time, which is why we give him one that is too big for him, he is around 20 pounds. Regular bones and things are out of the question because he is very aggressive with them. He has been using Nylabones since we first got him and he loves them. Are these okay as a chew toy, I worry it is not the best. I found the Hartz Dental Duo while shopping this weekend and picked one up because I thought since it would be more of a challenge it would last him a while. It works great and he has only made a little dent in it. But again, I'm worried this is not the best for him. They say the bones is made out of cornstarch.... And the outer section is a regular Nylabone. I want to go buy several more this weekend since I will be going to the area again this weekend and normally don't get there often... but I don't want to buy anything that is going to be bad for him. This is the product: http://hartz.com/Our%20Products/Browse.asp Thanks so much the link i gave doesn't work, so here is the product at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000G136RC/ref=nosim/?tag=yahoo-pet-20&creative=380333&creativeASIN=B000G136RC&linkCode=asn
I have two aggressive chewers that destroy all toys, but have no interest in the Kong toys...any suggestsions? I've tried filling the kong toys with treats, peanut butter, etc. they still have no interest. They love rope toys and nyla bones, but those usually only last a few days. I'm afraid to try those bone, hoof, or rawhide toys as I'm sure they will break off pieces and eat them. Any soft (stuffed animal type) toys are out of the question...those only make it about 5 minutes before I have to clean up the stuffing all over the house. Are there any other toys that are durable that the dogs will like? Or should I just keep replacing their favorite toys?
