What kind of outdoor toys do you have for your 1-2 year old? We have a fenced in backyard and Noah will be 1 in April so I'm sure he'll be out and about back there often this summer. I'm stuck on what sorts of toys to get for him. I've been looking on Craigslist for a slide/climber of some sort and have found some cute ones. People have asked what to get him for his birthday and I'd like to give them some ideas. Trucks and balls have already been thought of. What does your little one play with outside? LOL, Alia's mom, I can so see Noah doing this too.... It's going to be a long summer of "Noah, don't eat that!" I forgot a pool, duh! Thanks ladies.
Outdoor toys for little girl? I want to buy my little girl some outdoor toys for the summer (wagon, sandbox, slide). Does anyone know if they sell "girly" stuff? All I can find is the typical Little Tykes products. I don't plan on buying pink or purple for every one of those toys, but I'd like one of them to be somewhat girly!
Any ideas for homemade outdoor dog toys? I have a 60 lb. Lab/Border Collie. He loves to chew on anything he can find outside. I need some ideas to keep him from getting bored. I spend alot of time with him and also walk him alot. But sometimes I need a break. Thank you!!
Dog outdoor toys- I need help!? Hello, Summer is quickly approaching and I like to spend much time outside. Now, I want my dogs to have fun outside as well, so I was looking for toys/furniture for my dogs. Not the usual ball, freesbee, rope toys but more like little houses, tunnels they can go through- almost like toys for children. Can anyone suggest where I can find such items? I looked on ebay and online, all I could find was plush rubber toys and I have tons of those. I want something that my dogs can climb, go through, jump....Please help! Thank you very much!
Help - Where can I find a fun foam toy? My kids have had large (1-1/2 to 2') thick foam gliders (like an airplane) or large discs that they have had fun playing with outdoors in the summer when they were younger. Now my nephew is having a birthday and I was thinking of getting him something like that, but can't seem to find anything. Has anyone seen any soaring outdoor toys made of thick but light foam lately? Do you know what I am talking about? Hope so.

Where can I find a kids' outdoor wagon toy called a "Moon Wagon?"? I had one when I was a kid in the '70's and am now trying to find one for my son. It was round instead of the usual rectangular wagon, plus it was dark blue (and they may come in purple too). I have searched the usual search engines & websites like e bay online and can't fine one for sale anywhere. It may be a 1969 Big Boy Moon Wagon from what I've seen online). I had it in 1974 but not sure when or where it was from. Wal Mart does not have it since they have not been made since 1969. I have searched all the typical places online (amazon, ebay) and can't find it ANYWHERE. I guess I should have said that this is a VINTAGE TOY.
Outdoor-type toys for a 2-year old? I work from home and my 2-year old and I spend alot of time outdoors in the summer now. We bought her a swingset (with a play hut and all), a sandbox (with that new Crayola colored sand), a "big wheel" tricycle thing, a beach ball sprinkler, play golf clubs, a kick ball, and a soft bat and ball. What other outdoor activity things am I missing? Looking for things I can find at either Walmart, Kmart, Sam's Club or ToysRUs. SaraB: Walmart has the Crayola colored play sand - think it's $7.99/bag. Newest thing - comes in blue, green, pink and purple! Just to further explain my question - I don't need suggestions on what other things to do with my child (we already do things together like water the garden, take walks, do chores outdoors, even read, etc.) I'm just looking for additional toys that we can both play with outside. I'm a 34-yr old first time mom and not very hip into the latest things that are available for kids these days.
help with finding a slide for a bunkbed? I am building a bed for the kids and would like to find a slide, the slides that are built for outdoor toys are to large, I could build one.. any suggestions? where could I find a peice of laminate?? I think that could work if I built it.. I checked lowes and home depot.. no laminate like the old countertops were made from.. hmmm what to do??
what is this outdoor toy that I"m looking for? In recent couple of years I've seen this teeter totter sort of thing but instead of just going up and down it also pivots in the middle so they can go round in circles too. I've searched Toys R Us website but since I don't know the name I'm having a hard time finding it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and what this is called?
How to get outdoor dogs to become indoors? I have 2 8 month old puppies. Until about 2 months ago, they were indoors but then they started chewing on everything and we had a big flea problem. I have flea bombed thehouse twice and treated them every 3 weeks, yet I find them still chewin at their behinds and the occasional flea jumps on me on the couch. I want them to be inside dogs but it seems like when they are inside, I have to gate off the hall that leads to the bedrooms because they will chew on the kids' toys. this isnt fair to my kids to not be able to access their rooms. They also get all wound up and start biting each other. They never bite the kids but my son has been warned by them with nips for pulling hair. My beagle NEVER lets me know when she needs to go out. The husky will bark but the beagle just sits at the door and if I dont see her, she will find somewhere else to go. I can see the look in her eyes when she is trying to get away with it in the house rather than outdoors. I know puppies are puppies but help?! I only HAVE -2- dogs. One is a beagle and One is a Husky. Not 4, Im not THAT crazy. No the dogs dont BITE, the nip lightly to let him know that he is hurting them by pulling. He never cries, just laughs. We chose to get dogs and Im not getting rid of them just like that. Please dont judge our household. All Im requesting is info on how to tame them alittle more so they are not bouncing all over or chewing up toys. YES I get them their own. The beagle doesnt play with any the the Husky eats them. They never last more than a week. I buy toys that are supposed to be chewtastic, but she tends to tear them up anyways unless they are ropes and she doesnt play with those. She likes plastic! <Most of my kids' toys of course>. I dont have the ability to take them to Puppy school. My husband is militarya nd gone and Im home to take care of 3 children. They are not bad pups, just excited easily. The husky tends to bark and whine all night when crated and the Beagle pulls on walks. Thats it.
Can you help me with building an outdoor summertime cage? I'm toying with the idea of building an outdoor cage for my Amazon. I found a book on the subject, but it's for smaller birds. I need a bird-safe material that he can't destroy in a second, and perhaps some other ideas. Before anyone jumps down my throat about the dangers of making your own cage, and advises against it, please, let me tell you that I would not do anything to harm my bird, and am, in fact, going to discuss this with my avian vet at my little guy's next appointment. I can assure you that he will only be in it when there are people outside, will have plenty of shade, safety, and be under constant supervision. When everyone else is inside he will be brought in with us. Please, if you have any advice or ideas, let me know, and thank you in advance. Thanks Elaeblue- I thought of that, but on some of the larger crates, the spacing between the bars is too much. I'd prefer spacing to be no more than 1", as I don't want his head to get stuck in between the bars Yes Wendy Y, I've considered those things. Once again...I'm not going to do anything that would cause harm to my bird, he will be under constant supervision and will be not left out at night either. As far as bird flu goes, I don't think that's really a major concern for him.
Can anyone help me find alternate disciplinary actions I can take w/ my 9yr old son? Ok lets see, my son is 9 going on 30. He likes to lie about others lying about him. For example; yesterday he got in a fight on the bus to the sitters house. The sitter, her neighbor and the bus driver all told me what had happened, and for the life of him they are lying. Today he missed the bus home and said it was because he left class late, but when I spoke to his teacher, he didn't leave late. He's gotten very defensive lately, and talks back w/ attitude for EVERYTHING. I do not spank him, we talk a lot about everything, and when he behaves bad I take away TV, WII, PS2, Toy Chest, and outdoor privelages. Any other suggestions?
Our 1 year old lab mix has decided to attack our indoor cats. She is an indoor/outdoor dog. They are indoor ca ts. We have had the cats for years (they are old ladies!). We have had the dog for about 1 year (since she was about 4 mo. old). She began trying to befriend both cats, but they weren't interested. About a week ago I saw her trying to share one of her toys with one of them. The only thing we kn ow to do is to find her a new home. I don't want to ban her outside and I don't want to find my cats dead. Is there something we can do and keep her?
Which one is the best tertiary business idea? An outdoor toy hire company - hiring out sumo costumes, inflatable wrestling rings, trampoline hire etc... Or a british football and rugby stadium tours company, taking people from london all over the country to visit a stadium, meet the chairman etc... If anyone finds this idea incredible, then i allow you to make yourself a nice little nest egg from my amazing imagination lol. Just kidding Which do you think is the best? This is for my business studies coursework?
Is my outdoor cat lonely? Hi, So I'm sure that this is a commonly asked question but here it goes. We just got a cat and have never had one before she was wandering around from neighbor to neighbor for about a month and we broke down and fed her and decided to keep her. We got her a little house and toys and such. We don't let her into the house though and I'm afraid when work and school start she may get lonely. We don't have any other cats but the neighbors do. So far we've only had her a few days and she stays pretty close every time I go out or check the window she's there. When she starts to get comfortable will she go around the neighborhood a little more and interact with other cat's and dogs? Oh and I think she is a kitten will she need extra play time? Lastly whenever the door opens she tries to run into the house but it isn't cold and we can't ler her in because some of my family is a allergic. She looks so sad when she is all alone outside though. ): Any tips people have are very appreciated I can't find too much on outdoor cats and I've never had one before. Thanks so much! Thanks everyone for the advice!

Do you shop on Craigslist for baby items? I absolutely love to shop on Craigslist for baby items and outdoor toys for my toddler. I find it a waste of money to purchase new items for my baby specially since she grows out of it so fast. I found that most of the things such as baby swings, bouncers, exersaucers are in excellent condition. So, mommies do you shop on Craigslist for baby/toddler items? If so, what's the best bargain you've gotten? I got a Step 2 Teeter Totter for $20, what a bargain! Lindsey- Wow! you sure got a great bargain. Tenacious- I feel your frustration, some people do take FOREVER to answer their emails but it's worth it for me. Wow, many of you have gotten fantastic bargains! I LOVE Craigslist!
My kids have so many toys I don't know what I'm going to do for christmas!? I have 2 girls, 2.5 year old and a 13 month old. They are 19 months apart..so to make matters worse the toys that I bought for my 2.5 year old...those same toys they still sell at the store! so its hard to find my 13 month old stuff. They have all the little playschool and fisher prices toys, you name it, building blocks, toy phones, kitchen, desk, barbies, toy animals, larger toys like a mower, vacum, doll house, bike, they have so much! and OTHER people buy them stuffed animals which i HATE, pointless things that just sit there an pile up. Anyways, they don't have one of those indoor/outdoor playhouses, those cost $300 (grandma and grandpa and mommy are going 50/50 on the cost) but other than that...I don't know what else to buy!! and my parents are going to think im cheap...btw they also have a ton of clothes, so they dont need clothes =( help =(
Outdoor turned indoor cat still unhappy after a year? My 5 yr old cat spent the first 4yrs of his life as an outdoor cat and then i moved to an apt where its not possible for him to go out, ive been living here for a yr and he's still acting up... running around like a maniac, sprinting out the door, defecating where he shouldn't, ripping up furniture... i have toys for him but it doesnt help much. Since the cat is unhappy should I try to find a home for him where he has more freedom to go outside, I dont want to give him but I don't know what else to do anymore. Plus ive been considering moving in w/ my bf but hes allergic to cats which causes a whole other problem. He is fixed and I wouldn't be doing it for the boy, its just a secondary thought. I love the cat and just want him to be happy Actually Ive been concerned about my cat for the past year since we moved, he has a medium size climbing stand and when cats are depressed they do things like tear up furniture(which he didnt do before), attack the roommates cat, go to the bathroom where he shouldnt and try to run outside, i have done things that were recommended to help him they just havent seemed to be working so im thinking maybe he just really does need to be outdoors... and as i said the bf thing is a secondary factor i would not give up my cat for a boy
Pitbull owners... What do you do with your dog and toys.? I have a six month old lab/pit mix and owned a boxer/pit mix. What a great dogs... I absolutely love them. The issue I'm having is that my puppy is lazy. I'm a big runner and outdoor person and when I take her out to play she just lays in the grass and plays with butterflies. I've tried all kinds of activities with her. I run with her in the mornings but only about a mile because I don't want to push her so young. She's alright with the running but doesn't LOVE it. I've tried getting her into the lake to swim but she's not into swimming, she just splashes around on the sides and will retrieve a stick only if it's shallow. She's not into playing fetch. She will run after it and then take the ball away and lay down and chew it. My pit/boxer mix was a lot like that too, just not much into the ball playing. She likes to go for hikes but it's SO hot here that I just feel cruel when I take her out into the desert heat. I don't mind at all that she's a porch lounger, in fact I like how subdued and chill she is. I just feel guilt if I'm not getting her out and getting her lots of exercise. My boxer/pit and I lived on a farm so he ran around with the other dogs all day and I didn't worry about it. I'm just trying to find an activity that she LOVES!! She does like doing tricks and things but gets bored so I'm not sure if agility would be a success. Also she's a big chewer. But any chew toy or rawhide she gets ahold of it's demolished. What toys do you recommend getting that will last and she'll like. She loves plastic water bottles and it's a real problem stopping her from getting into them and chewing them to bits... definitely do not encourage that one! Anything helps!! Thanks!
What are some activities for autistic children?? I work at a group home with 2 12 year old autistic boys, and I'm looking for outdoor, or out of the house activities mostly... indoor activities are helpful too, but we already have a thousand dollars worth of toys that keep them busy.... any tips, I can't find much of anything on the internet!!
Indoor cats/outdoor cats? Is it cruel to not let a cat outside and keep it permanentely indoors even if I live by a main road where she could get run over? She has lots of toys and gets lots of attention but I sometimes find her staring out the window for ages? Forgot to mention shes a 2 1/2 yr old spayed female moggy and she is the only cat in the house. We got her from a rescue centre where she was being kept outdoors. She has been outdoors before in my garden and it just wasnt working as she was leaving my garden and was entering the wasteland at the back of my house beside the road, where she sat in the bushes right next to the road and watched the cars go by, she done this on a number of occasions and would not come back upon being called so I decided to keep her indoors as I was terrified she would see a bird and run across the road and get hit by a car! My last cat was a tom cat and an outdoor cat and once wandered off for a few months but he came home to be hit by a car a few months later! ps: a dog is a definate no no as it would have to be left alone during the day.
Looking for a small breed hypoallergenic puppy? I'm thinking of getting a puppy and was hoping for a some advice or suggestions from other pet owners. I've listed a few of the guidelines I've been considering as I look. 1. Hypoallergenic 2. Little to no shedding 3. toy or small size (under 10 pounds) 4. I live in an apartment with little yard (so something that requires little outdoor exercise and doesn't bark all the time) 5. Doesn't require much grooming 6. pure or mixed breed 7. Easy or fairly easy to train (especailly house training) I'm looking for a companion/lap dog that doesn't mind riding in cars and is good with other dogs and children. I would appreciate any suggestions. Also, I've looked at a few different mixed breeds (like the papi-poo and yorkie-poo) but can't find any pictures of what they look like as adults. Any suggestions?
How should I talk to my roommates about wanting to get out of the lease? I've been having major problems with my roommates, some of which I have asked about here. I live with a family, a 48 year old and her two daughters, ages 19 and 22, and a 2 year old baby. The 22 year old recently deployed, so the woman's other daughter, a 25 year old with a 2 year old of her own, moved in to help with the deployed daughter's baby. The house is a mess...they have been slobs from day 1, but the addition of the extra child, and the laziness of this person, has made the living situation unbearable. I can't even cook, because I have to dig through piles of dirty dishes to find the counter. I've tried mentioning things to the roommates before, and we even got in trouble by our landlord for the messiness of the house. They don't do any gardening, I have to do it all. I can't do laundry because they leave their clothes in the machines for days. They leave trash with dirty diapers for days, so the whole house reeks. When the trash man comes, they leave the empty trash can out there all day, even though they are home. As an example of how crowded it is, someone uses the hall closet by the door as an extension of her clothes closet. Baby toys are everywhere; they won't buy a chest for them. They allow the babies to play with outdoor toys inside, on the $10,000 hardwood floor, which has produced scratches (which we got in a lot of trouble for.) I try talking to them about how we need to take better care of the house, they roll their eyes. It's at the point where it's not worth it anymore. It's a crowded townhome; I have the master bedroom. If I left they would have more space. I'm on the lease, as are the 48 and 22 year old. (The 19 year old is listed as a resident; not a lessee though.) How should I ask my roommates if they would be ok with it if I moved out? And assuming they would be ok, how would I go about asking the landlord if I could get out of the lease? I don't want to let anyone down, or sell anyone out, I just can't live in a place like that anymore. I have tried to come up with suggestions, including laundry days and alternating the gardening duties. Nothing has worked. Unfortunately our lease is a 2 year lease; we still have a good 16 months to go. I was thinking about suggesting to my roommates that the 19 year old could take my place on it. I paid the security deposit on my own; at this point, I am not even going to fight for any of it bad, I just want out.
What can i put down to prevent grass growing through? There is a section of our backyard that we wish to put gravel down so that we can have a pool (above ground) in the summer time and an area for our youngest children's outdoor toys, as well as long the house and fence where our AC unit is; since it's too tight for a lawn mower to get to. i live in West Texas where weeds are insanely hard to be rid of! aside from constantly spraying round up...what can i lay on the ground BEFORE we add the gravel to prevent as best as possible the grass and weeds from growing up through the gravel? i know there is some sort of landscaping tarp but im not sure what it's called or where i can find it in bulk. this is a large area. ~thanks cant do ANY type of sand. the neighborhoods cats will think i made them a lovely litter box.
Gift ideas for a 7 year old boy? My cousin's son is turning seven in a few weeks and I'm not sure what to get him. I'm semi-close with them, so I want to get him a good gift that he'll remember and use a lot. My cousin said he's been saving up to buy a basketball net for the driveway or he's into all sports. I'm also REALLY strapped for money lately so I wanted to spend under $20. I could just give him money but then I'd feel cheap...I'd rather find something he'd use for that amount of money that doesn't look like it. lol I know I sound crazy. I mean, outdoor toys, if so, what kind? Thanks for answering.
What do you Need to Know BEFORE Your Pet Bird Escapes to the Outdoors? Any Additions?!? Mary S Level 1
So here it is- Your knowledge and my experience IMPORTANT to do - As Soon as Possible. - Have two cages available (even if one is
a smaller cage to put into the larger cage so you can leave the door open for catching the escapee)
- Leave all Lights ON – It Will be attracted to the light and more likely stay close and come down if it can see You , its Food, Cage and its Bird Friend - if you have one. .
-Objects of famaliarty – Cage, its toys, feeding bowls etc.. (We have
a coupe of the large wired Colorful ropes -that they perch on in there favorite spot) I
should have had one here. Could have hung it on
the deck near the tree to come as a seconday
thing to land on.
-Maybe a recording of My Birds (boo couldn t keep
calling out all the time - when needed) When Elfvie
was nearby - he reacted immediatly to his Boo
call.
-For chance of longer survival to keep trying-I needed
to get it food. I going to get a regular small outdoor
birdfeeder (inside) so that they would be use to going
to one. I could have put it outside to lure it..
And if it would have ended up outside our area –many people have birdfeeders-and therefore more chance of someone else catching it . -And that leads to Last - but not Least- Contacting the local animal shelter (SPCA is a major one) would be at the top of my list if I found any kind of Pet Animal - to check to see if someone reported it missing. And any number of other ways – post Lost Posters in the Area, Advertise in Papers-Local TV Stations and Radio to get the word out.
Thank you so much to those who responded -I hope that you know that it helped me out constructively and emotionally and will help Me and Others to be better Prepared in the Future. ..
My Story: My Birdies hardly EVER (a couple of times) come down from the top floor of this cottage- to the second floor. The few times they did come down is when I didn t freshen their food. Because I had just freshend their food 10 minutes before and they were upstairs at the time -And with me watching when I did open the door to the deck on the second floor - I AUSUMED it wouldn t happen. They didn t follow their normal habits and it DID happen-he came down and out in a flash.
.. It happened on Saturday afternoon -When Alfie flew out the door I went in and got the other bird (Boo) in the cage and brought it outside on the deck under the tree it was in. (The problem is-even if he came down-I wouldn have had a way to catch him without a second cage) It was probably distracted by the other birds (even was following a finch going from branch to branch) and Boo would call sometime- but not often enough and then stopped calling out. It stayed for about 20 minutes then at one point flew and into the tallest pine tree ever. I followed it calling and later it flew back towards our direction but overflew again way over to the other side. By this time it was getting windy and I placed the other bird again on the deck and it started calling and Alfie would respond back and this is when Alfie flew to the tree closer to Boo. The wind was heavy so when Alfie looked like he was going to fly down he but ended up way on the otherside again. But it was now dark. I went to see if I could find him again but didn t find him until I went out again the next morning (6:00am). It did start raining. I went out a million times a day with constant calling. It seems as if this might of helped to keep him in the area. One time later in the day Boo was calling again and Alfie answered and came closer into a tree across the street and at one point flew across towards us -but it was getting dark again and a car went by and he flew off again. That was at the end of the 2nd evening. After one cooler evening and a full day of rain - continuing on into another night- even though there was a rain free and warmer day ahead...... I could not locate him the next day-unlike all the times I had before.
Today I had to let Boo do what he is use to and fly free within the space. Now it is chattering away. And only one friend left here to listen and respond to it. I will stay til the end of the week- just in case.........
What are some good outdoor games to play with dogs? I have a mutt named Lucy that we adopted 5 years ago, and whenever she wants to go out we let her out on her trolley. She can go up and down our whole backyard (a little over half the length of an acre) and maybe 40 feet across. But whenever I let her out, she seems so bored, and she is getting tired of fetch. Also, we don't have many toys for her, a tennis ball if I can find it, a soccer ball, and some sticks from the backyard. So, what are some fun games to play with her? Any doggy sports? Fun tricks to teach her? Any answers appreciated. Thanks!
My Outdoor Cat Needs To Stay Indoors....HELP!!? Because of a coyote problem, our 15 year old cat [who has always been an outdoor cat] needs to stay inside. It's been 2 months since he's been outdoors, and the poor guy is still going crazy! He makes a mad dash to the door whenever he hears someone coming in, and tries to bolt. We've even tried taking out on a cat leash, but he goes beserk when he can't run fee. We've bought him a window perch, toys, etc, but he just can't seem to get use to the indoor life. We're so desperate that I'm thinking of finding a "cat whisper" to explain the situation to him!!! Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you handle it? [BTW....my vet is NO help at all!]

Can anyone help me find some bulk freebies for goodie bags for an event? My running group is having a weekend retreat with camping and tubing down a river. I am trying to assemble about 50 goodie bags for registration giveaways, and I am looking for promotional merchandise that I can get for free to include in the bags. I need it to be completely free without hassle, appropriate to an outdoor camping retreat for adults (childish adults to be sure, but adults nonetheless), and I can't fill out individual forms for each one of the quantity of 50. Some ideas I had were: disposable flashlights or glowsticks whistles plastic shot glasses beer can coozies lanyards bandannas branded personal hygiene items (like soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, bug spray, combs, brushes, deodorant) sure, fine, toys! even adults like toys. anything else you can offer that would work Any legitimate help would be appreciated. I am, of course, seeking merchandise that is branded by companies seeking to advertise to my group's members. My cat can't find happiness in our shed. Help!? I'm 13 years old and I recently moved to the country from town. When I lived in town, a cat would come to our house all the time. I fed him and took care of him, so when I was moving I got permission from my parents to take him with us. I moved here yesterday and I'm already having second thoughts about me bringing him. He lives in the shed since he's not allowed inside the house (my brother is horribly allergic and my step-dad doesn't like the smell) and even though he does have a big blanket, a litter box, a cat carrier to sleep in, and food, water, and milk, he ISN'T happy at all. He used to be an outdoor cat, so I can tell that he's upset about being in the shed. Also, it's November and it's already snowing so it's cold out there (heater and heat bulb are not options) and he's probably uncomfortable with the cold. He doesn't really like any of the toys he has, so he doesn't have toys to play with. He'll stand at the crack in the shed door and meow constantly. He sticks his paw through the door and pushes on it, trying to get out, and I don't know what to do! I want ideas to help him be happier. As a very last resort, I COULD take him back to the town to a woman that I know will take care of him, but I know that i'll regret it because I love him so much and I'll miss him. Please please PPPLLLLEEEEAAASSSEEE help me!!
How do I rereadjust my cat's life to an indoor or partially outdoor lifestyle? For a cat who depends on the outdoors for her sole source of fun.. rarely does she pounce and play inside the house --mouse toys intrigue her for a day until she tears it apart and then it's garbage. She doesn't care for cat nip much. She likes it when i play with her but it's time consuming and exhausting to throw a candy around and keep running to find it and throw it again. What are your thoughts on a cat harness? Also, is there a special collar I can put on my cat specifically made to scare off birds? Is one with a bell attached good enough? (I don't want to make her an indoor cat straight away, i'm going to readjust her gradually). Thank you.
My cat found a way out? Hi, I have three cats in the house, however, it appears to me that the smallest one has found a way out of the house. While I've never seen her leave the house, every morning it seems I wake up to a torn up piece of outdoor toy (like a foam dart or pool toy or something similar) that we don't own and I can't think of how it got in the house. I know the littlest one has big fun tearing toys apart with her teeth (she's not teething or anything, she's older) but I can't see how she's getting out. I've checked the house for small crawl holes, closed all of the windows, checked her for ticks and fleas and she is clean... I just don't get where the broken toys are coming from.
obsessed with Technology!? I have 2 children one girl age 11 and one boy age 9. They both have NO IDEA what to do with their time if they cant use the computer or play video games. Well, they can also be found starring at the TV. Neither of them is overweight, actually they are both quite thin so that’s not my issue. I would like them to be able to do other things. They got Heelys for their b-day so sometimes i can get them outside to do that but then seriously, 15 min later they are back in the house wondering "what to do". To try and fix this i have put together a "summer schedule" that plans out the entire day down to "free time" and "lunch". There is also, 2 snack, chore time, reading time and computer time. They hate the schedule and STILL don’t "have anything to do". They have bikes and tons of outdoor toys but they don’t use them unless we order them to. Help me to get the kids to enjoy things that aren’t video games, computer and TV, sigh! Unfortunately, i am not a stay at home mom but my husband is home with them since he is a teacher. We both ask the kids to go for bike rides with us and play catch or roller skate but they whine and pout the whole time we are doing stuff and it gets annoying. I have told them several times that if they would help more around the house i would have more time to spend with them. They are old enough to help out at home, if they want more attention from me they can help with the house work. somehow they believe that laundry just gets folded and put away all by istself. Ha, ha!
Went to check out a home daycare for my kids and couldn't believe my eyes! Have you ever had this happen? I am a sahm and am looking for someone 1 day a week for a few hours to watch my 2 babies. I found a listing for a home daycare near me and called the lady. She sounded great, had excellent ref's, ECE, etc so I arranged to go by there this morning. I went there today with my kids to check it out. First we went into the back yard and the first thing that stood out was the lawn. There was no grass. None. All dirt. I couldn't put my son down because I didn't want him crawling through dirt. My daughter walked over to a pile of toys and immediately picked up two pairs of scissors! The lady made some comment about the big boys playing with them. I was like, wtf? you have BABIES out here! There was another two year old and one year old in her care, you would think she would have dangerous things like scissors put away. The next thing I noticed was they had quite a number of outdoor toys including a playhouse. My daughter went into it and I followed her and glanced into playhouse and saw it stuffed with a bunch of metal bicycle parts. Nice. The lady began dragging them out of the playhouse. Then I noticed all the toys were filthy. Looked like they hadn't been cleaned off in months! My daughter went over and hopped in a toy car and sure enough, came out filthy and wet. She said, ''oh looks like I need to wipe that down''. Ya think? I was pretty much speechless at that point. Then the topper was we went inside to check out the basement where there was a playroom. The basement STUNK! A heavy musty smell. Mold maybe? I was pretty grossed out but tried my best to keep a straight face. Then I looked down a hall and she said ''oh, don't look there, I'm cleaning that'' The hall was jammed full of crap. We went back upstairs and I couldn't wait to get my kids out of there. Needless to say I would never leave my kids in a filthy place like that where potentially dangerous items are just lying around waiting to be picked up by a youngster. But what I can't understand is how anyone else could leave their kids there! Are these people nuts? Have you ever experienced anything like this when looking for someone to watch your kids? I have never until now had anyone watch my kids but me so this was my first ever ''interview'' and I can't believe what I saw there. I am going to keep looking but this first encounter really leaves me wondering if this is common. Anyone else have something like this happen when looking for childcare? I still can't believe what I saw today. And believe me, I'm no clean freak by any stretch but the place was plain gross. I can't believe anyone would leave their child there. Sorry this is so long, I just can't get it out of my head and am worried now about leaving my kids to be watched by someone else. Makes me wonder if I should even bother after this. I wish I did have someone in my family. I don't. And she was far from cheap, she wanted fifty bucks for a few hours! I love my thumbs down fairy - Wow, that's awful! I can't get over why anyone would leave kids with people like this. I think I might look into some daycare centres and see if any are willing to do one day a week. Ew - Thanks for that link, very interesting reading. My stomach is turning and I know for sure I won't be getting ANY childcare for my kids. All I wanted was a few hours one day a week but after reading all of the posts and my little excursion into daycare hell today, I refuse to even look at another place. I am debating on reporting the woman I saw today. People like that should not be caring for kids. I think I will be reporting her. It's hard because she was a really nice person but the environment there is not only filthy but also dangerous. I can't stand the thought of one of those little kids I saw today being hurt. Maybe if Children's Aid pays her a visit, she might clean up her act. I hope so..
Discount designer clothes for children? Hi, My partner has a 4 year old daughter with his ex. His ex only allows their daughter to wear expensive or designer clothes ie clothes from House of Frasier, Baby Gap, Pumpkin Patch, DNKY, etc. My partner and I can't afford and don't believe in paying £50 for a t-shirt for a child that is going to grow out of it in a few months - of course we want her to have nice comfortable clothes but we don't believe that that means paying £50-100 for a designer t-shirt or trousers. We have bought loads of clothes for her from H&M, Next, Debenhams, Mothercare etc but she never wears them and we just found out that as soon as the mother saw the label she just binned them. My partner has just finished uni and is having trouble fining a job with his degree and can only get work for 6 week periods and then nothing for weeks so he doesn't have a steady income coming in. Even with this he still pays her maintenance directly to her even though the CSA told him he doesn’t have to pay maintenance and refuses to take money from him. When he does get money in he always buys her something, nothing big but something small like some new outdoor toys, or a game etc but nothing extravagant but this is not good enough - the mother expects something around £100 spent on her nearly every week. I have a full time job at the minute but am being made redundant at the of July and going back to finish my degree in September, but after I pay rent for myself and my partner and household bills I only have £200 left to live for the rest of the month so I can't afford to give my partner a lot of money to spend on designer clothes. We have tried to explain that she doesnt need to be in designer clothes all of the time (especially as she is not allowed to get them dirty as they just get binned straight away - not washed just binned as she decides that they are no good anymore) and that we can't afford to dress her in them but that clothes from Next, H&M, etc are just as good. Does anyone know of any websites that sell designer clothes but at a discount price? Thanks for any help! I agree, I don;t want to support her habbit but she is treatening to stop my partner's access to his daughter if he does not provide his daughter with what she expects and the standard she sets. She has even got her solicitor confirming this in writting to us. We have tried talking to her and through the solicitor but we have got no where she is a very manipulative person and "is not right in the head". My partner no longer has contact with the mother due to harassment and abuse she put us both through over the last two years. The mother isn't well off - she has a part time job and claims any benefits she can - she doesnt tell the benefits people she has a job - but to be buying designer clothes and the latest technology etc for the child she must be getting more than enought money

Would this be a good way to turn outdoor cats into indoor cats? I looked on Humane Society of the United States and I found that it is really dangerous for cats to live outside. So I was thinking I could buy them some cat toys to replace the real toys outside (mice, moles, birds, and squirrels) and buy some cat grass to replace real grass, buy them collars with bell, rabie tags, and name tag, and only let them out once a day or every other day (they come back when called). So do you think this would be a good way to break the habbit of living outside. More info if need.... One of the cats was a kitten found in the woods and she had kittens and we kept her daughter. They have a giant scratch tree and cat bed. And if they meow or scratch do go outside what should I do? squirt them with water? Thank you!
PLEASE help me with my INDOOR/OUTDOOR CATS!!!? ='( I just found one of the feral barn cats that live around my house DEAD with a snakebite wound!!! I am SO scared for my pet cats, Kirby and Oliver!!! I CANNOT keep them indoors!! They jump out windows, they dash out the door as soon as it's open and they constantly CRY!! I DONT WANT THEM OUTSIDE!! I try to make the indoors fun with lots of toys and cuddles, but they want to play with the barn cats (they are neutered and have had their shots) they don't like TOYS!! What in the world can I do to keep my babies from getting killed by a rattlesnake like that poor feral barncat?? PLEASE I'm frantic and desperate! I need help! I don't want my babies to die! But see, that's the problem, My cats don't LIKE toys, one hates EVERY toy, bell ball, fluffy mouse, even CATNIP, he doesn't care! (that would be Kirby) Oliver only likes wadded up paper balls, they play with each other all night in the house and sleep with me in my bed, I WANT them to be indoors, but they dash out the door and lurk around it to wait for someone to open it then they run out real quick, and if they see an open widow with a screen in it, they jump onto the sill and knock the screen out. Sorry if my first post was stupid, I am freaking out, I love ALL the cats around my house, even if I can't pet them, and to see one dead makes me so upset, then to think of my two pet babies dead, I can't stand it, what I am asking is How can I keep them from wanting to go outside? They are 2 years and 1.5 years old, so they are young enough to be changed, but I don't know HOW to change them.
has anyone ever built a child outdoor play house from scratch? I was looking at the playhouses and all i could find were plastic one and the wooden ones are about $1,000 which i do not have to spend on an outside toy. So anyways my question is if i go to lowes and get lumber and what not would it be super hard to build? And around how much would it cost to do myself? Thanks :) i think i should explain a little further i am a 21 year old women who knows little about building anything haha i do not want it to big probably about 5 ft high and 4 ft wide i am excited about building it tho since i can make it colors and everything she likes :) oo sorry, yes my husband will be helping too while my mom is watching my daughter. But trust me, my husband is no builder. tami, thank you for the websites!! the hgtv one is awesome!! i think i will you that one for my "go to directions" :) thanks again!!
Found black window in my car!!!!? We brought a children's outdoor toy to our house and it was in my car a couple of days. Last night I found a stringy web on my steering wheel & didn't freak out ... But this morning I found a black widow crawling on my seat!!!!!!! I killed it & then found more stringy webs under the console, near the pedals. I have a huge suv, with kids and tons of junk in the car. I am officially freaked out & ready to sell it tomorrow!! What can I do?? (seriously) And what are the chances of there being more?? I don't know anythign about spiders (I only like the dead ones!) Without scaring me further - any info you can share?? HELP!!
Looking for the name of a toy advertised on Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network.? Hi all. My daughter wants this toy she keeps seeing on commercials but has yet to remember the full name of it so I can look it up. lol. I found a similar toy that I found that is only available in the UK called the Skim Slide found here. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3650433/Trail/C$cip%3D1500011503.Toys%2Band%2Bgames%3EC$cip%3D1500011504.Outdoor%2Btoys%3EC$cip%3D1500011507.Pools%2Band%2Bwater%2Bgames.htm Its basically a really long very shallow blow up pool that comes with a skim board so you skim board in your yard. :-) She thinks its called Swan something or another. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks !!
Should I adopt a cat? My apartment is small.? A woman I know is pregnant and I said I would adopt her cat. He still has claws and I don't want to declaw him. She started keeping him indoors since last year, but he used to be and outdoor cat. My place is small and I don't have outdoor access. He has a lot of cat toys, but I don't want him to be bored and maybe get into my paints and poison himself. I can't lock him out of my art studio because there's only that and the bedroom, and I don't want fur all over my clothes either. I want a pet but I wonder if this is the right one for my situation, and what I should say to the owner if I decide no, so she will stop twisting my arm and find someone else...?
Would I make a good dog/shihtzu owner? i have always wanted to be a dog owner, but was never able to be one. after much research- i have finally come down to a shihtzu as a breed-minimal shed, small, good with kids, don't need lots of outdoor run time, etc... found a just shy of 2 yearold male already housetrained-reputable breeder. but i have ?s 1. is it ok to clip hair short?- i don't want to show don't have time for the long hair- ok to go 1/2", 1" and every 2-3 month pro groomer? 2.we have typical 2 working adults and kid schedules- someone is usually home after approx 5-6 hours- is that too long to be away with an adult dog? 3. we don't travel much, but on the periodic day trip or night that we go out as a family for abunch of hours and can't take dog- is it ok to have someone comeover to walk and play for a bit? 4.dog is not crate trained, should i do this or is it ok for me to leave in a 2 room area with linoleum floor? 5. when left during the day- should i leave lots of toys? music on? etc..? thanks, i
Why would my cat, who has been spayed, leave her kitten with me and roam the neighborhood? and go off roaming somewhere. Sometimes when I check on them, the baby is by herself and Samantha has gone off and I can't find her. They are outdoor cats, my mom does not want them in the house, and I haven't been able to change her mind. She is in early stage dementia so you can see what I'm dealing with. Is Samantha looking for a place for her and her baby to stay at night to stay warm? I have a big doghouse in the backyard, there are blankets and toys and everything in it. It's got a fence around it, an overhang and a wooden front porch. It would be ideal for them to get out of the weather if I could get them to use it. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. I would love to see them inside, at least at night, but don't know if I'm going to work that out. HELP!! Samantha is at least a year old and baby Tabitha is going on 7 months.
How to clean plastic outdoor toys? Hi, I have some plastic outdoor toys (ride/push toddler toys, swing, Little Tikes shopping cart, plastic chairs)...what's the best way to clean them, and does a preserver like Armor-All help? I live in sunny California, mild weather but lots of sunny days. Thank you!
What outdoor toys do you have for your kids? I'm looking for a little tykes play structure for my 21 month old or something similar. Just wondering what kind of toys you guys have in your back yard and what you like and don't like. I don't wanna buy something she will outgrow too soon. Do you have a toy your kids love??
What are some inexpensive outdoor toys I can get for my toddler? My 2 year old daughter is very active for her age and loves being outside. I want to get her a few things, but don't want to break the bank. So what are some things I could get for under $15 that would keep her busy. She is pretty good with sports and the like. She has a water table, a ball and a trike. She loves them all. She doesn't like swings as she hates to sit and the climbers are just to pricey. Anyone have any other ideas?
How much do you think I should sell these outdoor toys for? I'm going to post on Craigslist, but i don't know how much to price these. I paid $450 for the playhouse, $140 for the sandbox, and $30 for the chairs. I'm going to sell the playhouse and chairs together. All of these are in very good used condition. http://www.flickr.com/photos/9071031@N06/sets/72157602280795531/
Help with advertising for outdoor toys? Help with advertising for outdoor toys? I have to make an advertisment for some outdoor toys, a pedal car and pool to be exact, and I really need some ideas, could you guys help? Its like a magazine ad, so just a page, and i need to fit the logo in somewhere.
What are some fun outdoor toys for a 3 1/2 year old girl ? Yes, a butterfly garden is an excellent idea. We have a black knight butterfly bush already, so we could just add others to compliment it. Thank you for responding. A waterslide is a neat idea, especially since we only have a kiddie pool & Tulsa is so hot in the summertime. Thank you =D
Ideas on good outdoor toys or swing set for toddlers? Parents who have had toddlers, please let me know what type of toys would be nice for a toddler to play on. We have a large backyard and I would like my 1yr old to have something as it warms up soon and we can get outside.
Dog owners: What outdoor toys should I get my puppy (to keep him busy) when he's in the backyard? Hi! I have a 3 month old puppy who I let into the backyard every afternoon for a few hours. We play lots of games together, including fetch and tug-of-war. However, afterwards, I will do work in my office (which has a door that I leave open which leads to the backyard) so that I can sit down and do work while my puppy runs around where I can see him. Unfortunately, though, the second I sit down, my puppy continually runs into my office and makes a mess. He refuses to stay in the backyard without me, and can't seem to have fun unless I'm out there with him. I wish there was a way I could do my work, and glance up every once in a while to see him out there having fun! I've bought him balls, stuffed animals, and chewy bones, but they seem to just bore him (they seem to keep him plenty happy when he's in the house, though). I'm going to PetSmart later today to look for a toy. Are there any suggestions to any puppy toys that can keep my pup occupied and having fun in the backyard?
Ideas for outdoor toys/activities for 1 year old? My son will be 1 tomorrow (cant believe it) and I am trying to go ahead and think of some outdoor toys & activities for him for spring. He got a pool for his birthday & a sprinkler mat,but I just cant seem to think of anything right now..Any ideas?
Outdoor toys for son's first birthday? I want to get my son an outdoor toy for his first birthday, we live in an apartment and have a back deck, but not much grass.. Any ideas or experience with good outdoor toys for 1yr olds are appreciated. Thanks :)
how do I get water out of a children's outdoor toy? My kid has some heavy-duty outdoor plastic toys like a sand table. I left it outside in the rain and now there's water INSIDE the table (ie. inside the plastic). What's the best way to get it out? If I just drill a hole in it, could that weaken the table such that it might collapse when it's filled with sand again?
Has anyone used plastic paint on outdoor playgrounds or toys, like the Little Tikes kind? Problems? Results? I have several outdoor toys that are all that plastic-type stuff: playground, 6 ride-ons, 5 power-wheels, slides, toyboxes, etc. I'd like to know: * what you used to repaint?,( Krylon Fusion??), *did you prime anything?, *were there any problems when applying it?, *did it go a long way or did you need to buy way too many cans? *were you satisfied with the finished result? *did it last or is it already wearing off again? Thanks everybody.
Is $30 reasonable to buy a ton of outdoor toys? My nephew frequently plays with three kids and he has these toys: My nephew has two bikes (one breaks easily + has no training wheels, one is in great condition and has trading wheels), one scooter (but we also use another scooter which is my brothers), two skateboards (both my brothers), one jump rope (with beads on it;made for adults so it's too big for them) , one little-tyke basketball hoop but we can't use it much because of the wind, no balls but a squishy one, some outdoor cars&noisy cars we don't want inside, one hula-hoop, and a box of chalk. He loves to play outside so that's why he has so much. I am 16 years old and often I play outside with them and watch them, but since one of them is Autistic and my nephew does not share well sometimes, I think we need more toys. Is $25-$30 reasonable for toys? What can we buy? I am thinking about buying several more jump ropes ($1-$2 a piece), several different kinds of balls, one or two basketballs & one soccer ball [$3 or $4 a piece at wal-mart], some regular plastic balls which are around $2 each. What else can I buy? What is reasonable to buy more kid toys? I go to yard/garage sales most Saturdays. Today I went with my nephew. He loves garage sales. I normally don't find much outdoor toys. I hope you know that we live in the desert and you can go anywhere and find sand....literally. Like my backyard. I am def going to the dollar store for some toys--jump ropes definitely.
what is the best toy outdoor helicopter? i want to know what is the best outdoor toy helicopter and under £50.00, and then what is the best outdoor toy helicopter (does not matter about price) so i would like the best one under 50 pounds and one that is the best and could you give me the sites to buy then and or were the review the helicopter
Outdoor toys for kids? I have some nephews that NEVER go outside. They live in an apartment with a small yard but their mother doesn't take them out. What can I get them for Xmas that will get them to stop worshipping the TV? They are 4,5, and 7 years old
What's a really fun outdoor toy? I'm looking for something you can play with outdoors. In my mind is my Swingball. Something that I can take to a park and play with someone, or possibly alone?
Outdoor toys kids can play with alone? Like most kids, ours gets pretty bored unless someone is playing with her. But we don't have a lot of kids in our neighborhood, and me and her dad both have very little time. We still do things together, but until we get better schedules, everything we do is planned. Weekend camping trips, or family bike rides...that we scheduled in 2 weeks in advance. We want to get something fun for her to play with outside. We thought about a swing set, but she's almost 7, and I'm worried she'll out grow it in 3 months. The other idea was a trampoline maybe... What are some toys or games that are self amusing for kids, but still let them run around. (she has lots of energy). Otherwise she ends up staying inside and watching movies or playing on the computer, and gets cranky. Thanks!
How to keep dog away from baby's outdoor toy? Hey all, I have a large breed: a 2 year old male Golden Retriever. He spends most of his time laying outdoors. My parents have recently bought my toddler brother a swing and outdoor children's entertainment toy thing. He still hasn't made a move on the toy, but I was wondering how I can assure sure that he would never even TOUCH the thing. I made sure he was OK with the toy after he barked and sniffed around it today. So, how can I make sure that he'll never touch it? Any kind of convenient product would work too. Really need your opinions soon. Thanks in advance & Awaiting your answers It's not really much about the drool just, it's about the biting and chewing. He is a huge chew-fan! He chews everything .. and I have come to a reasoning and have made peace with him and accept his chewing of stop because experts told me that's how Goldens are and plus he's still young. The toys brand new ... so I'd need no dog marks! :)
