- You might start with Amazon. They have reviews of products, so you can get a good idea of how other parents liked the products. You don't say how old your child is. But, did you know one of the best educational toys for a child is a cardboard box? You can draw on it. You can sit in it, and turn it into a car or rocket ship, or even pretend it's a playhouse or aquarium (depending on the size). You can pound on it and make music. You can cut it into pieces, and learn about stability. And in the end, you can recycle it. Hugely educational, and not too expensive. Not to mention VERY easy to find.

- DO NOT OVERLOOK real 99 Cent Stores like I almost did. A Special Ed Teacher with a cartful of toys asked what I wanted Playdoh for. "To give a grandson while I talk on the phone with his mom, so he will quit screaming and entertain himself" said I. She pointed out many items to improve coordination, develop speed putting puzzles back together, and identify small objects that go into a jar if from a group, starting the child off with a pile on the floor. Dog figurines don't go with reptiles in the jar, for example. Next time, it must be faster. The magnetic letters & chalkboard desk was best utilized by my mentally gifted daughter from age 2 until she broke the seat. Toys r Us Stores have good Ed'l selection.
