How to sanitize soft/plush toys?
My 4 month old son has several soft/plush toys with noise makers inside that would get ruined if I ran the toy through the wash--so how can I sanitize that type of toy?

- Feebreze It works all the time.
- Beside washing I only know of, wipe the outside with a moist wipe and then put them in the dryer for 30 min or in the freezer for 2 weeks. But I don't know about the electronic, so I would probably try to take it out and sew it back in after I cleaned the toy.
- febreeze or lysol would do the trick.
- Well ive got 6 kids and ive always washed them on the gental cycle in hot water the used fabric sofener the keep them soft! I would'nt spay them with anything because babys always put things in ther mouth!
- Lysol spray and keep the toys away from the baby until the smell disappears.
- A surprising number of "surface clean only" items have gone through a delicate cycle in a knotted pillowcase here and come out with their squeakers intact...
- lysol
- Don`t worry too much about it. Children all over the world have been playing with soft/plush teddy bears for years and still remain so until they got so dirty and soiled yet they are as healthy as ever. Just sun the toys as often as possible and beat away the dust.
- I personally don't like the idea of using Febreeze or Lysol on any of my childrens toys. These are chemicals, and they will get into their mouths and systems. I would just put them in the dryer for 15 minutes! That will kill all the germs. But yes, don't wash them. You could even put the toys into a mesh laundry/lingerie bag if you like.
- OMG PLEASE DO NOT LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE WHO SAID LYSOL OR FEBREEZE!!! At that age your child is probably putting his toys in his mouth right? Well spraying lysol on his toys is like spraying lysol on your food, waiting a while then eating it! It's really scary that so many people suggested that! They say surface clean only probably but you may be able to get away with handwashing them or putting them in the washing machine on delicate. Vinegar and water also is the perfect cleaner for most baby toys made of hard plastic, you could use it to sanitize the soft toy and then rinse it (so it doesn't have that vinegary smell). I just wouldn't do it too frequently or it may ruin the toy.
- I stick mine in a pillow case, tie the end tight and stick it in the washing machine and dryer. Works great and doesnt ruin the toy (stuffed animal)
- If you can find a non-toxic sanitizer spray then spray them with that. I have ran stuffed toys through the washer before, but I let them air dry, or you could hand wash them with dish soap too.
